International Day of Forests
March 21, 2021
Safari Sense joins the rest of the world in marking this year’s International Day of Forests.
The theme for 2021 is “Forest restoration: a path to recovery and well-being”and we encourage you to plant trees as a way of raising awareness on all types of forests.
Did you know Kenya that has a large diversity of ecological zones and habitats, including lowland and mountain forests, wooded and open grasslands, semi-arid scrubland, dry woodlands, inland aquatic, as well as coastal and marine ecosystems?
Sadly, only 6.1% or about 3,467,000 ha of the country is forested, with 18.9% ( 654,000 ) of this classified as primary forest, the most biodiverse and carbon-dense form of forest.
