The Norfolk Hotel

On Christmas Day 1904, when Nairobi was hardly yet a town, the Norfolk first opened its doors to the public. Steeped in history, the early days of the Norfolk saw it become a base for the growing British colony. Weary travellers disembarked from Nairobi Railway Station and made the short trip, through open plains dotted with herds of wildlife, by rickshaw to the hotel. Today, the beautiful reception area and lounges immediately bring to mind the timeless luxury of the colonial era, with spacious surroundings and décor that give life to Nairobi’s romantic past. The hotel also offers old-style and very charming gardens.
