Earth Hour – 2021

March 27 @ 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm

This Saturday the whole world will go dark at 8:30 p.m. local time.

The darkness is part of a worldwide movement known as Earth Hour that has been steadily picking up momentum since being launched in Sydney 14 years ago. The Earth Hour event primarily involves switching off electricity for one hour.

The focus of Earth Hour 2021 is “Climate Change to Save Earth” a message that aims to raise awareness on the reality of climate change, how it affects all of us, and how can unite together to fight it.

By some accounts, Earth Hour has become the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment, inspiring millions of people around the globe to take action to help save our planet and nature.

Safari Sense joins industry peers and partners who recognize the significant impact travel has on the planet’s climate to mark this year’s Earth Hour.

Climate Change has seen more species going extinct now more than any other time in history. Any and all actions that cultivate awareness and spark conversations around the urgent need to protect our planet are extremely important.

Wildlife is a key driver of tourism activity and job creation, particularly in Kenya and East Africa, and protecting endangered species is vital for the sustainable future of the travel industry and those whose livelihoods depend on it.

The linkages between nature and travel are all too apparent for all of us in the industry to play a role.

So as we celebrate this important day in our calendars, let’s also join hands in  finding solutions in fighting or mitigating the socio-economic effects of Climate Change.
