SUMMARY:Unleash Your Adventurous Spirit: Conquer Table Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Elevation: 3\,971m (12\,438ft)\n \nWeather: Dry \nDifficulty: Moderate\n \nMin pax: X6 \nDate: 24 – 26 Jan. 2025 \nIf you’re yearning for an unforgettable hiking experience\, look no further than Table Mountain. Nestled southwest of Lesatima and perched on the edge of the main escarpment\, Table Mountain beckons with its awe-inspiring heights and untamed beauty. \nTwo Thrilling Approaches Await\nYour journey to conquer Table Mountain offers not one\, but two thrilling approaches to choose from. \nOption 1: The Escarpment Climb\nFor those seeking a less-trodden path\, the first approach begins with an ascent of the escarpment above Wanjohi\, winding through various bands of lush vegetation. This route is rarely used\, promising a sense of solitude and wonder as you make your way towards the summit. \nOption 2: The Ridge Traverse\nAlternatively\, the second approach takes you along the rarely traveled ridges to the south of Lesatima. Starting from the summit of Lesatima\, continue your hike southward along the main ridge of the Aberdares. After an initial steep descent\, you’ll reach a serene small pool\, perfect for a night’s camp. Replenish your energy here\, then ascend the next peak on the ridge\, followed by a somewhat lower peak. Descend to a col that offers a comfortable camping spot\, all within a day’s reach from Nairobi. This segment from Lesatima takes between one and two hours. \nFrom this col\, continue to the next high point\, and make a sharp right turn toward the rock castle (mentioned in route one). Descend into a picturesque valley and then ascend the side of the ridge leading you to the majestic Table Mountain. An alternative route involves continuing straight on before veering right to follow a subsidiary ridge that leads into the basin at the head of the valley. From there\, ascend the ridge’s side and follow it to the summit. The final push from the campsite to Table Mountain takes between two and three hours. \nA Weekend Adventure Awaits\nBelieve it or not\, you can embark on this thrilling Table Mountain adventure over a weekend\, starting from Nairobi. It’s a journey that promises not just breathtaking vistas but also a profound connection with nature and a sense of accomplishment. \nAre you ready to conquer Table Mountain and create lasting memories? Join us on this remarkable hiking expedition led by seasoned guides who will ensure your safety and enhance your experience. Don’t miss your chance to make Table Mountain your triumph. SUMMARY:Unleash Your Adventurous Spirit: Conquer Table Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Elevation: 3\,971m (12\,438ft)\n \nWeather: Dry \nDifficulty: Moderate\n \nMin pax: X6 \nDate: 26 – 28 Jan. 2024 \nIf you’re yearning for an unforgettable hiking experience\, look no further than Table Mountain. SUMMARY:World Wetlands Day 2023 - “It’s Time for Wetlands Restoration”
DESCRIPTION:Wetlands play an important role in the environment by providing habitat for wildlife\, helping to prevent soil erosion\, and improving water quality. \nBird watching\, also known as birding\, is a popular activity that involves observing and identifying different species of birds in their natural habitats. Wetlands\, including marshes\, swamps\, and bogs\, are important habitats for a wide variety of bird species\, as they provide food and shelter for many species of migratory and resident birds. \nWetlands conservation and bird watching are closely linked\, as healthy wetlands are crucial for bird survival and diversity. Birds are indicator species\, meaning that the presence or absence of certain species can indicate the overall health of an ecosystem. By preserving wetlands\, bird watching enthusiasts continue to enjoy viewing a wide variety of bird species in their natural habitats\, and also contribute to the protection and preservation of these important ecosystems. \nBy offering bird watching trips that are geared towards environmental conservation\, Safari Sense is helping to raise awareness about the importance of preserving wetlands and the bird species that depend on them.

SUMMARY:Celebrating 51 Years of Earth Day
DESCRIPTION:In the midst of a global pandemic\, this year’s Earth Day reminds us of our collective responsibility to the environment and to our planet. And while climate change continues to pose a major threat to livelihoods\, the devastation caused by the COVID-19 virus is a humbling reminder of humanity’s vulnerability \nThe theme for 2021 is  “Restore Our Earth” and focuses on restoring the world’s ecosystems through natural processes\, emerging green technologies and innovative thinking. \nWhen it comes to travel\, we need to start looking more closely at the ways we can minimize negative impacts and harm to the planet by adopting an eco-conscious mindset. \nEarth Day is an annual holiday observed on April 22\, which was first invented and put into practice back in 1970 by John McConnell\, a peace activist and environmentalist.  Recognized as the planet’s largest annual civic event\, it has spawned a range of environmental actions and campaigns\, including the passage of landmark environmental laws and reforestation projects. \nAt Safari Sense\, we strongly believe that tourism can help protect our planet. While we recognize air travel contributes to climate change\, we work with destinations that utilize sustainable tourism to protect wildlife\, preserve wide\, open spaces\, celebrate local cultures\, and improve the lives of local residents. \nGlobal travel restrictions may keep us from the ability to hop on a plane tomorrow\, but for those of us who love to travel\, there’s a greater responsibility to protect the planet — after all\, we travel to see the world. \nThere are so many small\, sustainable choices that we can make as part of our travel routines and our day-to-day lives\, so let’s try to embrace positive habits for our planet. \nWith a few changes in the way we travel\, all of us can contribute to a healthier environment. What it means is that the traveller leaves as small a carbon footprint as possible in the places through which they pass.

SUMMARY:Earth Hour - 2021
DESCRIPTION:This Saturday the whole world will go dark at 8:30 p.m. local time. \nThe darkness is part of a worldwide movement known as Earth Hour that has been steadily picking up momentum since being launched in Sydney 14 years ago. The Earth Hour event primarily involves switching off electricity for one hour. \nThe focus of Earth Hour 2021 is “Climate Change to Save Earth” a message that aims to raise awareness on the reality of climate change\, how it affects all of us\, and how can unite together to fight it. \nBy some accounts\, Earth Hour has become the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment\, inspiring millions of people around the globe to take action to help save our planet and nature. \nSafari Sense joins industry peers and partners who recognize the significant impact travel has on the planet’s climate to mark this year’s Earth Hour. \nClimate Change has seen more species going extinct now more than any other time in history. Any and all actions that cultivate awareness and spark conversations around the urgent need to protect our planet are extremely important. \nWildlife is a key driver of tourism activity and job creation\, particularly in Kenya and East Africa\, and protecting endangered species is vital for the sustainable future of the travel industry and those whose livelihoods depend on it. \nThe linkages between nature and travel are all too apparent for all of us in the industry to play a role. \nSo as we celebrate this important day in our calendars\, let’s also join hands in  finding solutions in fighting or mitigating the socio-economic effects of Climate Change.

SUMMARY:World Water Day
DESCRIPTION:Safari Sense joins the rest of the world in observing this year’s World Water Day. \nThis year’s theme\, “Valuing Water”\,emphasizes that value of water is about much more than its price. Water has enormous and complex value for our households\, food\, culture\, health\, education\, economics\, and sustainable tourism. \nThe observance will also raise public awareness about the many ways shifting atmospheric and oceanic conditions are reshaping the global hydrologic cycle. \n\n*Note – Travel to any destination may be adversely affected by conditions including (but not limited) to COVID-19 protocols\, security\, entry and exit requirements\, local laws and culture\, natural disasters and climate.
